چکیده

The aniline–neon van der Waals complex has been investigated from a theoretical point of view. The intermolecular distance, structure and rotational constants in the ground electronic state have been obtained by ab initio calculations using second-order Møller–Plesset (MP2) theory. The potential energy surface has also been determined. It has been found that two conformers exist: the anti, where the neon atom and the NH bonds are located on opposite sides of the ring, is slightly more stable than the syn conformer. All the ab initio results agree with those obtained by the analysis of the rotational and laser induced fluorescence spectra of this complex. We have also modeled the interaction of the van der Waals bending mode with others internal motions of the aniline molecule such as the inversion mode of the amino group and the breathing mode of the ring. The theoretical results predict that there is a significant coupling between the van der Waals bending and the inversion mode in agreement with the experimental behavior found in both the ground and the first excited electronic states of this complex. 2004 Elsevier B.V. A theoretical study on electronic predissociation in the NeBr2 van der Waals molecule

We present the first comprehensive ab initio study of the Ne–Br2 potential energy surfaces and the nonadiabatic couplings between the valence excited electronic states. These ab initio results are used to obtain 3-D approximate potentials for...

Communications: A model study on the electronic predissociation of the NeBr(2) van der Waals complex.

Recently, the predissociation lifetimes of the NeBr(2)(B) complex for different initial vibrational excitation (10<or=v(')<or=20) have been measured using time-resolved optical pump-probe spectroscopy [Taylor et al., J. Chem. Phys., 132, 104309 (2010)]. In the vibrational interval studied, the vibrational predissociation (VP) proceeds by the transfer of a single vibrational quantum and the life...

Competition between adiabatic and nonadiabatic fragmentation pathways in the unimolecular decay of the ArI2(B) van der Waals complex.

The competition between vibrational and electronic predissociations of the ArI2(B) van der Waals complex has been studied using several dynamical computational methods: exact quantum wave-packet propagation, time-dependent golden rule, and quasiclassical trajectory with quantum jumps model. Five electronic states are considered using recent three-dimensional coupled surfaces obtained with a per...

Direct observation of the picosecond dynamics of 1 2 - Ar fragmentation

The fragmentation of van der Waals (vdW) complexes offers an opportunity for studying the half-collision dynamics in well-defined systems. In previous work from this laboratory, we have studied, 1 in real time, the dynamics of the "hair' and the "full" collision, but we had no results on the diatom-rare gas small vdW complexes. Iodine with rare gases I2-M (M =He, Ne, and Ar) are of particular i...

Breaking van der Waals molecules with magnetic fields

Manipulating dynamics of molecules with external fields has long been a sought-after goal of experimental and theoretical research. Several groups have studied elastic and inelastic collisions of ultracold alkali atoms in the presence of Feshbach scattering resonances [1–6]. It was found that the probabilities of elastic collisions and inelastic energy transfer undergo dramatic changes near Fes...
